Last week VH1 premiered their latest television movie, Drumline: A New Beat. This sequel to the 2002 film centers on a female lead, Devon, who arrives at a fictional Louisiana college where she looks to join their once-prominent drumline. Jordan Calloway stars as Jayven, who quickly becomes the object of Devon’s affection despite their rivalry in the marching band. Jordan gets a couple shirtless scenes during the film. Rome Flynn makes his film debut playing Leon, a gay member of the band that befriends Devon upon her arrival. In addition to a lengthy shirtless sequence in the film, Leon also gets his own brief storyline which shows him falling for a fellow student, leading to a kiss. Unfortunately, his hopes are dashed when he discovers the guy has a girlfriend.
