25 Days of Gays: Hawaii (2013)

We end our 25 Days of Gays feature with the acclaimed Argentinian film, Hawaii. The film centers on Eugenio and Martin, two former childhood friends who reconnect after Martin comes looking for work and Eugenio discovers that he is homeless. As the relationship between the two men grows, they begin to struggle with their own senses of power and desire related to the other. Manuel Vignau and Mateo Chiarino play the two leads, who both appear shirtless throughout the film. Mateo also gets a rear nude scene and a few partial frontals. Manuel Martinez Sobrado appears shirtless in one scene, playing Eugenio’s visiting brother.

25 Days of Gays: Weekend (2011)

As the weekend winds down, it’s the perfect time to spotlight the great gay-themed UK film, Weekend. Starring Downton Abbey’s Tom Cullen and Chris New, the film tells the story of two men, Russell and Glen, who hook up almost randomly only to discover a connection between them that continues to bring them together. Soon their one-night stand becomes a special and unforgettable relationship. Both Tom and Chris are featured in rear nude scenes and some brief frontal nude scenes as well.

25 Days of Gays: Role/Play (2010)

Matthew Montgomery is a gay film icon having appeared in over a dozen gay-themed movies in his career. In 2010’s Role/Play, Matthew plays a gay marriage activist who escapes to a private resort after his marriage crumbles in the wake of cheating revelations. There, his character crosses paths with Graham Windsor (played by Steve Callahan), a soap opera actor recently fired after his sex tape was leaked, revealing his homosexuality. Sparks fly between the two men as they struggle with their lives in the public spotlight and deal with backlash for tarnishing the image of the gay community. Both Matthew & Steve are featured in several nude scenes. Their co-star David Pevsner gets a distant frontal nude scene in his role as the resort’s owner. Matthew Stephen Herrick appears in flashbacks as Graham’s ex-boyfriend, getting a partial nude scene.

25 Days of Gays: Free Fall (2013)

Free Fall is a powerful drama from Germany that centers on Marc (played by Hanno Koffler), a young policeman with a promising career and a baby on the way. Marc befriends a fellow officer, Kay (played by Max Riemelt) and begins to fall for him. The two begin an affair that leaves Marc feeling confused and helpless, as his personal and professional life begins to spiral out of control, forcing him to make decisions that could ultimately cost him all of the people he loves, including Kay. Both Hanno Koffler and Max Riemelt appear in several skin scenes, with some rear and frontal nudity. Several of the film’s supporting players appear naked during the group showers as well.

25 Days of Gays: My Fair Son (2009)

My Fair Son is a gay-themed film out of China. It’s a coming-of-age drama that revolves around teenaged Ray (played by Junrui Wang) who is reunited with his father after being sent away to live with his grandfather for many years. The two men struggle to relate to one another, especially after Ray’s father discovers him in bed with another man. Their relationship becomes further complicated when Ray develops feelings for his father’s employee, Bo (played by Yu Bo). Ray’s father’s confusion over how to deal with his son leads him to separate the two after he finds them in bed together as well. Junrui Wang appears in rear and frontal nude scenes, as does Guifeng Wang, who appears in the film as Ray’s first boyfriend. Ziqiang Li gets a rear nude scene alongside the two, playing another friend of Ray’s.

25 Days of Gays: Between Something and Nothing (2008)

Between Something and Nothing is a gay drama from writer/director Todd Verow. The film centers around art student, Joe (played by Tim Swain), who gets dragged into a seedy world of drugs and prostitution after getting involved with handsome hustler, Ramon (played by Gil Bar-Sela). In addition to rear nude scenes from both of those actors, the film also features Michael A. Guzman as a nude model in Joe’s art class who shows both rear and frontal nudity. Jorge Suquet appears shirtless in his role as a hairdresser who has a tryst with Joe, leading to a dramatic haircut. Jonathan Lang appears alongside a nude uncredited extra in one scene as well.

25 Days of Gays: Release (2010)

Release is a powerful UK film from writers/directors Darren Flaxstone & Christian Martin. The story centers around incarcerated priest, Jack (played by Danel Brocklebank) who finds himself ostracized behind bars with prisoners who suspect him of having committed abuse. Jack soon connects with prison guard, Martin (played by Garry Summers) and the two begin a secret affair, which gets interrupted when Jack gets a cellmate in the form of the teenaged troublemaker, Rook (played by Wayne Virgo). While Jack slowly befriends Rook, his attempts to protect him from the other prisoners fail, leading both men down a dangerous path. All three actors are featured in rear and frontal nudity. The prison showers are the setting for a climactic scene, leading to some rear and frontal nudity from several unnamed prisoners as well.

25 Days of Gays: Hollywood, je t’aime (2009)

The comedy Hollywood, je t’aime follows Frenchman, Jerome (played by Eric Debets) who is left depressed and alone after he is dumped by his love, Gilles (played by Jonathan Blanc). Fed up with the harsh winter and upset to see Gilles has moved on quickly with Henri (played by Donovan McGrath), Jerome is lured to Hollywood, deciding to become an actor. Once there, he meets colorful characters and endures a tough lifestyle as he tries to make it, leading him to realize there’s no place like home. Eric Debets shows both rear and frontal nudity in a few scenes of the film. Jonathan Blanc & Donovan McGrath appear naked early in the film. The film also features Scott Romstadt and Jake Olson in shirtless scenes. A visit to an L.A. bathhouse also leads to shots of several uncredited nude extras.

25 Days of Gays: Hot Guys with Guns (2013)

The crime comedy Hot Guys with Guns centers around Danny (played by Marc Anthony Samuel), a gay actor doing research in hopes of getting a part as a television detective. Danny is enlisted by his ex-boyfriend, Pip, to use his newfound skills to locate his missing watch after he attends a sex party where everyone is drugged and robbed. They soon realize the culprits are behind a string of sex party robberies and the bad guys aren’t too happy to learn they are trying to track them down. Brian McArdle plays Pip and appears in several rear nude scenes, along with Trey McCurley, who plays Pip’s new beau, Robin. Chad Strawn appears naked as one of the sex party guests, along with several other unnamed extras. The film also features shirtless scenes featuring Mingyu Chu, Spencer Collins, David Nathie Barnes and Kevin Held.

25 Days of Gays: Phoenix (2006)

Phoenix is a film from writer/director Michael D. Akers. The drama centers on Dylan a young nurse in his early twenties, who finds himself growing more disillusioned with his traveling businessman boyfriend, Ken after a year of their relationship. When Ken is called away on yet another business trip, Dylan decides to follow. Dylan arrives in Phoenix, only to discover Ken has seemingly vanished, leaving behind his partner of 7 years, Demetrius. Dylan & Demetrius bond over their shared betrayal at Ken’s hands and find themselves engaging in their own affair, as each tries to get over their hurt feelings. Chad Bartley plays Dylan and treats viewers to several scenes of rear nudity. Jeff Castle appears partially nude in his role as Demetrius. Gaetano Jones plays Ken and appears shirtless in the film.
